Manyu ZHANG
Biography
Manyu Zhang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Digital Media at the School of Film and Media Arts. She obtained her PhD and completed her postdoctoral research at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium.
She serves as a national reviewer for undergraduate thesis assessment under the China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center, and acts as a peer reviewer for journals including Education and Information Technologies and Education Technology and Computers. She is also a member of several professional associations such as the China Industrial Design Association, Tianjin Artists Association, Tianjin Animation Society, the China–Europe International Artists Association, and the Society of Science and Art.
Her teaching and research focus on digital media art. She has authored several books, including Mise-en-scène (VUB Press, 2020), Animated Storytelling (VUB Press, 2021), and Design Perspective: Principles and Practice Strategies (Tsinghua University Press, 2022). She has published over 30 academic papers, including 8 indexed in EI and 3 in CSSCI, and has led three municipal-level research projects. She has supervised students who have won numerous national and provincial awards and has herself received multiple honors for excellence in teaching and guidance, including first prize in the 7th National Aesthetic Education Exhibition and second prize in the 8th National Aesthetic Education Exhibition. Her papers have also received several national “Best Paper” awards
