On 21 January 2026, the PhDGov in-person training concluded at Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Brussels. The training was hosted by Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the EU–China Higher Education Research Center (ECHE) and held at the Learning Innovation Center (LIC.004).
Day 3 focused on project progress, institutional action planning, and reflection. The morning session addressed project progress management and next steps, providing an overview of the ongoing implementation of the PhDGov project and outlining upcoming activities.
This was followed by a development action plan session, during which representatives from Palestinian universities worked on action plans for their home institutions. The session supported structured discussion on priorities for improvement and future actions related to PhD governance.
In the afternoon, participants presented their institutional action plans, followed by open discussion and exchange. The training continued with a session on learning results and key take-away messages, offering participants the opportunity to reflect on their learning experiences over the three days.
The in-person training formally concluded with closing remarks by the Dr. Adli A.A. Sammoudi (head of the Palestinian delegation), and Prof. dr. Jan Danckaert (Rector of Vrije Universiteit Brussel). During the closing session, certificates of completion were awarded to all participants, marking the successful conclusion of the in-person training phase and the transition to the upcoming study visits.
