The second session of the PhDGov online training series was held on 27 May 2025. The live online session focused on doctoral supervision and practical aspects of PhD education, drawing on experiences from Sweden.
The session opened with an introduction and welcome by Dr. Mohammad Saleh from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology. The main presentation addressed capacity building for research supervisors at KTH, presented by Prof. Kristina Edström, highlighting approaches to supervisor development and training.
This was followed by a session on practical aspects of PhD studies and supervision at KTH, with contributions from Mohammad Saleh, Viktor Kordas, and Justin Chiu. The presentations covered key elements of doctoral supervision, organisation of PhD studies, and supervisory practices within the Swedish higher education context.
The session concluded with a Q&A discussion, as well as brief concluding remarks and an introduction to the next online training session, supporting continuity within the PhDGov online training programme.
